JD Majethia On The Meeting With CM Uddhav Thackeray: ‘No Shooting Will Happen During Weekend Lockdown’
After the meeting with CM Uddhav Thackeray, JD Majethia says no shooting will happen on weekends, and that production houses have started working on scripts accordingly
Amid the rapid surge in the number of Coronavirus cases, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray announced fresh restrictions across the state. It was announced that on weekends, a complete lockdown will be imposed. On April 4, a meeting of Producers, Federation of Western Indian Cine Employees (FWICE) and Cine and TV Artists’ Association took place with Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray, wherein it was discussed how the entertainment industry will be impacted with another lockdown. Producer JD Majethia was also a part of the meeting, and he has now shared some details from that meeting.
JD Majethia is the Chairman of Indian Films and Television Producers Council. While speaking to ETimes, he revealed that shooting of TV shows will not happen during weekends, and that production houses have been informed so that they can start working on the scripts accordingly. “They will manage for this week and most people will have a bank of episodes. From next week, we will have to see how things will happen. We have to look at the bigger picture, we were about to enter another phase of lockdown but that has not happened,” he said. JD Majethia added that they are happy a complete lockdown wasn’t imposed, and that they have been given 5 days to shoot, as a result of which, broadcasters will have to come up with a strategy and plan for their channel.
He further said that this weekend will be important as they will find out the result of not shooting on two days. “If things are under control in the entire state, then we will once again see if we can approach the State government next week. If we will start facing issues at our end like the episode bank and all, then we will approach the state government with our set of problems. We want to stand by the Government. This is a collective problem and we have promised the CM to stand by him," he said.
